I absolutely love training at AMA! The atmosphere is open and friendly, and the people here are like family. At the same time, I get a great workout and I learn a lot. The training is practical, and it's easy to adapt to different situations. Both instructors are incredibly patient and approachable. I never feel silly for asking questions because I know they care about every individual and they want us all to succeed. The students help each other as well, so it's easy to improve with each class. Since there are a variety of styles taught, chances are you will find something that works well for you. I highly recommend trying out a class here if you're looking to start your martial arts journey.
Regardless of whether you have a lot, little, or no martial arts experience, I highly recommend this place. Nick and Hashem prepare you for the dangers life can throw at you in the streets by teaching you long, mid, close range tactics. Everything is practical and can be used in real life. This isn’t just another school in which you’re a number in a sea of students. You actually get personal attention and encouragement based on your strengths and weaknesses with growth waiting around the corner. Plus everyone that trains is helps you progress as well.

I have been training with Nick (Savate, JKD, Muay Thai, Kali, Silat, Wing Chun) and Hashem (BJJ) for over 5 and 2 years respectively. There knowledge of the arts is profound and the training program is well planned and suitable for anyone who has prior experience or a beginner.
There is great sense of community and everyone (teachers/students) are very welcoming and helpful. I absolutely recommend AMA to anyone who is interested in self-defense/fitness/competition martial arts.

Anna Marlatt
AMA is a great school. As a woman, I feel very comfortable training there. Neither Nick nor Hashem force you out of your comfort zone and take everyone’s needs into account during training. As someone that started with no knowledge of martial arts, I would highly recommend this school for people of any skill level!

I've found a 2nd home at Allied Martial Arts studying several disciplines of stand up self defense such as... Muay Thai, Savate, Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Dirty Boxing, Wing Chun... as well as ground attack and defense with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Both Sifu Nick & Coach Hashem are highly trained and wonderful to work with! Patient and always able to adjusting the day's technique to suit any limitations due to past injuries or limitations. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with its students eager to welcome new members to the family. No egos just people looking to help one another grow in martial arts! Plus they have kids classes!

Nick Schultz
Learning from the Nick has been such a pleasure and great learning opportunity that I followed him to his new school Allied Martial Arts in South field MI. The difference between AMA and other MMA schools is that the instructors Nick and Hasham both want to see you succeed and won't give up on you. They are both highly qualified professionals in their own areas of expertise. If you are into JKD, sevate, BJJ, muay thai, self defense, or just want to get a good workout in, AMA is a great place to give a try! Would not recommend any other MMA school over AMA!

Christian Gojcaj
This is definitely best place I’ve ever trained at! Nick and Hashem are both extremely knowledgeable at their art. Together it makes for a complete training experience. I really enjoy training in different styles in order to find what works best. It makes it very exciting and fun to come to class. Also, you can tell they both care that everybody is involved and that they understand as well. It’s truly a family environment. Highly recommend!!

The one thing I love about training here is the patience that both instructors teach with. Doing martial arts is not easy and it can be overwhelming. Nick takes his time to show you the fundamentals of each drill before bringing it all together into a nice flow. Hashem is amazing at what he does. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu requires a lot of flexibility and strength. He teaches you in a way where you can learn and experiment. Every class with him I feel comfortable and safe. I leave each training from both instructors with a nice workout and a smile on my face. I recommend everyone to come see what Allied Martial Arts has to offer.

Lots of variety in the curriculum so there’s always something fresh to learn plus a very inviting and friendly atmosphere.

I started here about a month ago and it’s been great! Friendly for all levels of martial arts and the coaches are fantastic!

Allied Martial Arts
Allied Martial Arts is the joint effort of BJJ Coach Hashem H. Magham & Sifu Nick Cavallino, to spread the joy of martial arts and the many disciplines within. Located in Southfield Michigan, AMA combines the rich experiences of these two exceptionally knowledgable and dedicated practitioners! See below for more information...

Hashem H. Magham
Founder of Azer Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu

Azer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Azer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu focuses on getting an opponent to the ground in order to neutralize possible strength or size advantages through ground fighting techniques and submission holds involving joint-locks and chokeholds. On the ground, physical strength can be offset or enhanced through proper grappling techniques.

Biography:
Hashem started his martial arts journey in the mid 1970’s with a Malaysian Karate called “Tang- Hup Mu Doo Kwan” in England where attended university. After achieving his brown belt with 3 stripes, he moved to US. Unable to find a school to continue training Tang-Hup Mu Doo Kwan, Hashem trained different arts such as Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soodo off and on until 1999.
After seeing a documentary about Jean Jaques Machado and Brazilian jiu jitsu, Hashem set his sights on learning this Brazilian way of combat. Hashem’s search led him to the Kali Academy of Martial Arts owned by Chris Malgeri, where a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt named Marcelo Grosso offered classes in BJJ.
In 1999 Hashem started studying with Grosso, who was a De La Riva black belt but his training in BJJ ended prematurely when Grosso decided to move back to Brazil. Unfazed Hashem stayed and continued to train no gi grappling with owner Chris Malgeri, a certified CSW instructor under Erik Paulson.
Missing the style of BJJ Hashem eventually convinced Malgeri to start teaching under the tutelage of Marcello Montiero’s bjjcoach association. After achieving his brown belt Hashem began teaching BJJ at Malgeri’s acadeny. Hashem continued training with Malgeri, both under Marcello until he received his black belt from Marcello in 2011.
Currently a 3rd degree black belt and still part of the bjjcoach association Hashem continues teaching today along side his partner Nick Cavallino at Allied Martial Arts.

Nick Cavallino
Founder of Adaptive Combat Method

Adaptive Combat Method
Adaptive Combat Method is a combat training concept derived from many different fighting styles from around the world and influenced heavily from Bruce Lee’s art of Jeet Kune Do.
Exposing participants to the many training methods from different forms of combat gives the individual a better way to explore and identify what works for them as a martial artist.

Biography:
Nick Cavallino’s love for Martial Arts started at a very young age when he got to see the legendary Bruce Lee on screen. Nick identified his screen presence and the confidence he portrayed was so powerful. He became fascinated with martial arts right then. He wanted to possess the same confidence, fluidity in movement and went out in search of someone who could teach him the art of Jeet Kune Do but there was nobody in the Detroit/ Michigan area that taught this method of martial arts. So he tried to learn on his own through his own research and training with whoever he could through various books, videos and personal friends/acquaintances. Finally he was able to find someone to teach him not only Jeet Kune Do but many other styles and methods of combat, training under Chris Malgeri.
Nick has been trained in many arts including Jeet Kune Do, Jun Fan Gung Fu, Filipino Martial Arts, Kali, Pikiti Tirsia, Wing Chun, Savate, Muay Thai, Western Boxing and Silat. Nick has been certified by some of the biggest names in the Martial world and still continues to further his education and training under the watchful eyes of Sifu David Hatch and Simo Lynda Hatch.
After more than 20 years of training in many of these styles Nick decided that he wanted to do something with the knowledge and experience he gained through his training. He decided that he wanted to help educate and to teach these beautiful and effective arts to the public, to be of service to the community in a positive way. Encouraging and empowering people from all walks of life. Teaching them the positive benefits of training in the martial arts.
